How do I change my book title?
On the Book tab, tap the pencil icon on the brown book cover (top-right corner of the cover image). This opens the book editor where you can set your title, subtitle, and authors.
How does voice transcription work?
Journey & Journal uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition to transcribe your voice in real time. Everything is processed locally on your iPhone — nothing is sent to external servers. It requires the Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions, which you can manage in iPhone Settings → Journey & Journal.
How do I capture photos and videos on a walk?
Go to the Route tab and tap "Trip moments." This opens the camera screen where you can take photos or record short videos. Your captures are saved privately to the app and kept small to save storage space.
How do I export or share my book?
On the Book tab, scroll down and tap "Export as PDF" to generate a PDF of your full book. You can also tap "Reserve my hardcover" to build the PDF and open it in an email to send to yourself.
Where is my data stored? Is it backed up?
All your journal entries, chapters, photos, and route data are stored locally on your iPhone in the app's private storage. No data is stored on external servers. To back up your data, ensure your iPhone's iCloud Backup is turned on (Settings → Your Name → iCloud → iCloud Backup).
How do I delete a voice recording or photo?
In the Trip moments grid, long-press any photo or video thumbnail and tap "Delete." For saved voice transcriptions on the Capture tab, a similar long-press option is available.
The app is crashing or not working correctly.

How do I reset the app or start a new trip?
On the Book tab, scroll down and look for "My past trips." From there you can archive your current trip and start fresh. Your previous trip is preserved so you can still view it.
