🍷 The short version: Vino collects as little data as possible. Your wine cellar stays on your device. We only send wine label images to our AI service for identification, and they are never stored. We do not sell your data to anyone.
1 Information We Collect
We are committed to collecting only the minimum information necessary to provide you with the best wine scanning experience.
Information you provide directly:
- Wines you save to your personal cellar (stored locally on your device only)
- App preferences such as currency and temperature unit settings
- Questions asked to the AI Sommelier feature
Information collected automatically:
- Camera images of wine labels when you tap the scan button
- Your device location when you use the Winery Map feature (only when permission is granted)
- Anonymous crash reports and basic app performance data (via Apple's standard crash reporting)
2 How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to provide and improve the Vino app experience:
- Wine label images are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI for identification purposes only. They are processed and immediately discarded — never stored on any server.
- AI Sommelier questions are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to generate answers. Questions are not linked to any personal identity.
- Location data is used only to show nearby wineries on the map and is never stored or transmitted.
- Cellar data stays entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Crash reports help us identify and fix bugs to improve app stability.
3 Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party. We share limited data only with the following service providers:
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — receives wine label images and AI Sommelier questions solely for the purpose of generating responses. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this data.
- Apple — receives anonymous crash reports and App Store purchase data as part of standard iOS operations.
We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a court order or legal process.
4 Data Storage and Security
Your personal wine cellar, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard iOS storage mechanisms. This data never leaves your device.
We do not operate any servers that store your personal data. Wine label images and AI queries are transmitted securely over HTTPS and are not retained after processing.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect any data in transit.
5 AI and Camera Usage
Vino uses your device camera to photograph wine labels. The camera is only activated when you are actively using the scanner — it is never used in the background.
Wine label images are transmitted to Anthropic's Claude AI service over a secure encrypted connection for the purpose of wine identification. Once a response is generated, the image is not retained by us or, to our knowledge, by Anthropic for training purposes.
🔒 Your API key security: The AI connection uses an encrypted API key that is obfuscated within the app binary. We strongly recommend setting spending limits on your Anthropic account as an additional safeguard.
6 Children's Privacy
Vino is a wine-related application intended for users who are of legal drinking age in their country or region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through our app, please contact us at support@casadiscoop.com and we will take appropriate action.
7 Your Rights
Because we store virtually no personal data on our servers, most data rights can be exercised directly on your device:
- Access and deletion — your cellar and preferences can be deleted by removing the app from your device.
- Location access — can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Vino.
- Camera access — can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Camera → Vino.

8 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
